they've exposed the irrelevant CMA

I think their most recent platinum release tells that story quite well. As for the fans and losing face with country music... So what? They found a new audience and are still making loot! Hail, Hail Rick Ruben (their most recent producer of Rap Music fame!).

Natalie's words about Bush garnered them a Bunch of fans in Europe! This is a Capitalist country! It's not where the money is made, it's how much and if it was legal...

I could care less where she made her comment. I guess the old adage is true THE TRUTH HURTS!

Probably so. The CMA is awards for country music artists and that is what the Dixie Chicks are supposed to be. Its kind of funny though to see the distinct difference in the grammy's vs. the CMA's. As far as I'm concerned, my entertainment value decreased substantially whenever a musical artist gets political. I don't care what side of the fence they may lie, its annoying to think that movie actors and musicians need to express whatever their political views may be. They are there to entertain. That is what they are paid to do. They are not paid to open their mouths and spout of about things of which they probably have little capacity for understanding. I have no problem with musicians being involved in things like "Rock the Vote" or whatever like that. It is good to tell the people to get informed and be a part of the process, but it is not their job to try to inform them of their own personal and skewed political views. Thanks and have a nice day.

No. They don't care. But they do care that their new album didn't sell very well (by industry standards), and they care that they can't get air play on the average country station in this country, and they care that their tour schedule is dictated now by whether or not they can sell enough tickets at specific venues. Look, whether you're for the war effor or not, whether you support President Bush or not, the truth is, the average country music fan is a flag-waving, troop supporting, President-supporting patriot that believes it's not a good idea to bad mouth the President or the troops during war time. That's the same as insulting your fan base. It's like walking into a trailer park and yelling "Wal-Mart sucks!" (I'd like to thank Larry the Cable Guy for letting me use that line)

Probably not, but then they don't really care that they alienated a lot of fans in the country music industry. That is their right and privilege, but, as for me, I don't care for their defiant unAmerican attitudes. There is a time to speak out, and there is a time to keep one's mouth shut, and they have figured out neither.
So far as the CMA being irrelevant - to you it is - to me, it is more important, and the Grammys have definitely lost any respect that I might have gleaned for them. To each his own - but then that's America.

Yeah they care. It is their core listening group. Unfortunately the short fat one can't keep her mouth shut so it costs them money. The CMA are for deserving talented artists. They haven't descended into the self aggrandizing left wing political agenda freaks of whatever hippie award they received in California.

It is time to give California back to Mexico. Unfortunately Mexico doesn't want California

I don't care about the Dixie Chicks.

I don't think the Dixie Chicks really care. I don't listen to them any more so what they do or say is irrelevant to me.

It was expected, the bimbos only get awards when its the politics that matter, their 'music' is awful and would never get anything as music. They are supposed to be country, but they are not good country. They can only get grammys where your politics are more important than your music, so they are no longer music awards and are hollow, a sham and a shame.

Apparently they have exposed that we are not allowed to speak our mind.

The great thing about being American is that we have freedom of speech and we can express our opinions.

Hypocrites, whether you agree with them or not, should respect your opinions.

I RESPECT opinions of those who say the Dixie Chicks suck, but yet they can't respect their opinions.

It's a great country that the Dixie Chicks expressed themselves in an opinion, not an action.

They do NOT care. They won their grammies.

Two common words I keep seeing in these answers supporting the band is "hypocrite" and "redneck". Using redneck as a derogatory name defines yourself.
