I know this may sounds weird but i plan to plant sago palm for my garden and I don't want it to grow. I just want to plant it for decoration purpose therefore i want it to keep the same size forever (3 feet tall/wide). I heard these are very slow grower but how do you keep it green but not grow? THanks.

after you plant it, it won't really grow much for about 2 years. they go into shock, and it takes them a couple of years to 'settle" in and establish their roots. then they will grow slowly. if you trim the bottom row after the new growth appears, it shouldn't become to big or unmanageable for years to come.

There are many varieties of sago palms. I personally do not care for them as they can get very intrusive and hard to cut back. You may want to try a miniature version, they only grow about to 1-2 feet. Some will grow to 5-6 feet. Watch out for the growth tho, the leaves are very sharp and prickly.

The only way for this to happen is to get an artificial one. Then it will stay green, but will not grow. It is very good for decoration purposes, and will always be the same size. Hope this helps.

if you want to stunt the growth you need to keep it in a container. If you plant it in the ground it will grow very large. you could even plant it within a planter into the ground. If you do this it wont get much bigger.
