hahaha they want to feel special

that's BMI of 18.3 slightly underweight. i would say a weight of 105-110 would be better for a woman of 5'2''

i honestly think i would even look chunky at 5'6'' if i weighed 130 pounds, right now I'm 118, perfect

I am 5'2 and 130 pounds. My stomach is flat, my body fat percentage is low and I comfortably wear a loose size 6 jeans. I am considered petite because I have very small bones. I weigh so much because I work out constantly and am very muscular. that is not to say however that there are not people that say they are petite when they are clearly not.. Short and petite are not the same thing, it is the size of your skeletal frame.

Although "short" is not the original or only meaning of the word, as others have stated, petite is the word the fashion world gave years ago to clothes made especially for us shorties. In the world of women's clothing, buying petite clothes means simply that you are shopping in the short people's department, it has nothing to do with weight. Us shorties, whether we are fat or skinny, cannot wear average-sized pants - they are up to a foot too long sometimes!

Petite means short, not fat! Its ok if a girl is 5'2 and 130 pounds! Some girls have bodies that are built to weigh more even though they still look skinny.

And it matters why? Who cares honestly. I am not trying to be mean but I would consider them to be petite..mostly because they are short and thin. Your bones dont have to poke through your skin to be thin. Did you know muscle weighs almost 2 pounds more than fat, so you might want to consider that b4 you call some one chubby or judge someone. It drives me crazy that women are so obsessed with looks that they will put others down. Why cant we all just get along and be happy that other women take pride in themselves and are happy. Please

Oh and referring to the email you sent me, I am freakin 5'9 160 so I dont think the remarks about a gut really applys to me. I wouldnt PAY your judgemental *** to have me anyway

Petite is a clothing retail term. Petite means any height under 5ft4 and sizes go up to size 16 or 18. It means the inseam and lengths are shorter. If you don't like it, take it up with the retailers if you are really that bothered.

You don't have to be 'skinny' or 'underweight' to be petite, i.e. 100lb.

HTH : )

to the best of my knowledge, "petite" in the women's world has to do with your height, not so much your weight. i could be wrong on this, tho. anyway, 5'2" 130lbs is not terrible, considering the ideal weight for someone that height is around 110.

Because they are.

5'2 and 130 pounds is within a healthy weight range, so it's considered petite.

You, on the other hand, have a very disillusioned idea of what healthy means.

I think that petite means short so it doesnt have anything to do with weight

5' 2" and 130 lb is at the higher end of the healthy weight range.
5' 2" and 100 lb is in the underweight range.

If you knew anything about fashion, petite refers to height not weight, just ask anyone in the fashion industry. I hope you don't become a fashion designer.
