Halo 3, is there a beta going around?

I saw this deal for a game on the 360 that states there is a Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta Invite when it comes available. Has anyone heard about that? And what the heck is it?

Yes there is a Halo 3 beta invite. The only way you can get in it now is to buy "Crackdown". There were 2 phases before where you just needed to sign up for the beta at halo3.com but they have ended. Bungie is saying that the beta will beging on Spring but they haven't set a date yet.

Heres how it works: When you buy Crackdown it comes with the beta; sort of u see in the main menu of the game there is an option to download the beta but u have to wait till a certain date b4 u can download and play it im still waiting for the option to stop being grayed out.
