it was called Mr Piper...I totally forgot about it until you asked this question! Other characters were, Bessie the bunny, Calvin (Rac)Coon, Rupert the cat, Freddie Frog, Charlotte Cow, Kookie the kitten and Rat.
It was a Canadian show from the 60's staring Alan Crofoot.

it was mr piper,with alan crowfoot.it had real life animal sections & cartoon/puppets.the theme tune started
come with me,come & see,all the wonders there will be,laughs galore to tickle your skin,songs & tales with animals in,on pipers show!
this is freaky,i was talking about this show yesterday!!!!
