APPARENTLY ONE FEELS QUITE LITERALLY, LITERAL, LATERALLY, LITERARY, LITERACY, LUDICROUS. FACTUALLY, ACCURATELY, FIGURATIVELY COULD ALSO BE USED AS AN ALTERNATIVE. ITS DELIGHTFUL AND CHARMING WHEN ONE USES IT IN MODERATION, ONE MUST TRY REALLY.

I think it is an example of the lack of English language education in the modern education system. Words like literally and random and actually are used when they are not needed "like"!!

Not as much as when peeps say "y'know" when I'm waiting for them to tell me. Soccer players on telly for instance and, y'know, Rugby League commentaters. Illiterations are ubiquitous nowadays and very very annoying indeed. It's literally, y'know, the government's fault and the meeja, all backward boys. Llamedos! .

Sometimes yes. It's the same as people using the word 'like' every 3rd or 4th word.

Maybe it is just the attempt of a weak mind to express itself forcefully-literally!

Especially when they don't mean literally--it's almost a filler word.

Ooh, don't get me started. I heard someone the other day on TV say, "I literally DIED when I heard it!"
