First of all, if you are referring to "life force" energy or something like that, you shouldn't be concerned with laws of thermodynamics. That said, the law of conservation of energy only applies to closed systems, which the body is not. The body is continuously generating "energy" which is used to fuel physiological and physical functions and lost as heat. When the body dies, there is no more input, and no more output. No more energy is produced; it doesn't "go" anywhere.

The energy that your body produces is due to the chemical reactions that are going on in your body. When you die, these reactions stop. Most of the energy you give off when you are alive is given off as heat, which dissipates into the environment according to the laws of entropy. When you die, you stop producing this heat and your body will become the temperature of the surrounding environment. Eventually, if you are exposed to the air and/or soil, you body will decay. The energy comes from the chemicals and proteins in your body. Eventually we will and end up as dust in space.

The Energy changes from one form to another, as it cannot be destroyed. When the person dies the energy in his body converts in to various other forms. It looks to an observer as if it disappeared.
When the body of the person decomposes, the nergy stored in it is either taken by the decomposing bacteria or transferred to earth and atmosphere in various forms due to the reactions taking place as a part of decomposition.

The energy in our body is called chemical energy. Given that there are different ways to treat a human body after death, I shall try to answer your questions.
1. Cremation: The chemical energy in our body is burned by fire and changes to light energy, heat energy and possibly sound energy.
2. Burial : Bodies are consumed by bacteria and other decomposing agents such as worms and then transformed to chemical energy.

the whole quantity of potential interior of a gadget is neither created nor destroyed even nevertheless it does undergo entropy. by the 2nd regulation of thermodynamics, in any closed gadget, the entropy of the gadget will the two proceed to be consistent or improve. collectively as the universe's potential point is continues to be an analogous, its point of disease will improve with the aid of the years. As for the place did potential come from, technological understanding can in basic terms speculate in theories. One theory is that the whole universe replace into as quickly as contained interior of a mass no larger than an eraser head. As Einstein's widespread equation tells us, E=MC^2, a number of that mass replace into converted into potential in the process the great bang. think of of the great bang as a state the place disease is at a minimum point. Ever on account that then, debris have been drifting and increasing, contributing extra to entropy. Our universe gets extra advantageous with the aid of the years. (notice, the theory is grossly simplified here.) desire that helps.

Since we're in science I won't get metaphysical. Like any other animal..we could be consumed and the calories used to support some other type of life. Most of us prefer not to be consumed if we can help it, in which case we decay...decaying matter expends energy in the form of heat..if you've ever seen steam coming off a compost pile on a winter day...you have the idea.

The matter which makes up your body stores the (potential)energy which is later released when the atoms of your body are eventually combined with others to form something new.

From a physical point of view Your body decays and returns to the earth in the form of heat and other elements.
From a metaphysical point of view if you consider your mind , your being , your memories, your soul as energy. They may stay around intact ( ghosts ) or they may go to another plane or dimension and may stay there or return in form ( reincarnation ). What ever you believe in your heart.

Same thing that happens to the energy you expend while you're alive..! It returns to the universe and is eventually recycled in some way.

If you are buried, you decompose, and bacteria and bugs eat your flesh, and the bacteria and bugs then get eaten, or die, and are returned to the soil, where plants use the nutrients to grow, and the cycle of life continues. If you are cremated, the mass of your body is turned into heat.
