I've had no problem finding time to send out applications and research career opportunities, however- I work 9-5 monday through friday and most of the places I'm looking at hold similar (or identical) hours, not to mention the fact that several are somewhat far away. How do I find time to go to interviews?

Pick the most promising ones or the ones you most desire and schedule them for the same day. Take that day off from work and go for the interviews. Do not schedule too many and leave yourself some time in between. I would allow 1 hour for each interview and at least a half hour in between depending on the distance between the two interviews.

When I worked full time and was interviewing for other jobs, I just explained my situation and a lot of employers gave me a telephone interview.

Also, I would make my interview very early or late in the afternoon and tell my current job that I had a dentist appointment or something.

When I was in this situation the potienal new jobs (a couple met me near my workplace for lunch, at a restaurant) Some are also willing to do interviews after hours! Or have an interview first thing in the morning. Tell your boss you have a dentist appointment and will be in late.

I had that same dilemma about a month ago and had to take time off from my old employer to interview with my new employer. If taking time away from your current job to interview is a problem I suggest talking to the recruiter to see if s/he can stay later to meet with you.

Call in sick for the day and schedule a couple of interviews for that day. Tell your boss that you have a doctors appointment and you need to leave early that day.

Good Luck!

request a day off and schedule all of your interviews on that particular date. Or simply tell them you need to handle some business and will be in late on so and so date. Or try going on your lunch break.

Ask the interviewer on the phone how long will the interview take?
Can you make it back Lunch, combine breaks, overtime, anymore c time? If not use your vacation or sick time. (Do not feel quality evidently the job is making you sick.)
