This has got to be one of the biggest pickups that will happen this off-season. How do you think they'll do this season if Culpepper is healthy and with Kerry Collins backing him up? I think that defense has a legitimate chance at being one of the best out there, what do you think?

I am not a Dolphins fan really at all, but for all people who think Porter is too old, think back to him kissing Bill Cowher when he added a ring to his resume. 30 aint that old in this league anymore, especially for a brusing defensive player. I think with some added spunk, a healthy Culpepper, possibly acquiring a wide receiver and a Ronnie Brown in the backfield, they are headed in the right direction. Like i said, not really a Dolphins fan, Bengals have been my team since I was a kid..i just like to see a competitve NFL season

For everyone that keeps saying the Dolphins defense is getting old... 8th against the rush in 2006, 5th against the pass. No team in the NFL was ahead of them in both categories. They were also 3rd in the league in sacks.

As for Porter, I love the "stats were starting to drop off argument"

Wanna try again?

The last 7 seasons look pretty damn consistent to me.

2006- 55 tackles (40 solo) - 7 sacks - 2 Ints - 0 FF
2005- 57 tackles (39 solo) - 10.5 sacks - 2 Int - 4 FF
2004- 54 tackles (37 solo) - 7 sacks - 1 Int - 3 FF
2003- 66 tackles (50 solo) - 5 sacks - 0 Int - 1 FF
2002- 89 tackles (61 solo) - 9 sacks - 4 Int - 2 FF
2001- 61 tackles (47 solo) - 9 sacks - 0 Int - 4 FF
2000- 60 tackles (42 solo)- 10.5 sacks - 1 Int - 3 FF

Mr. asker, Kerry Collins is not on the Dolphins, never has been. In fact, Collins just signed with Tennessee again.

Being a Steelers fan I was sad when they cut Porter. But when I look back at his career, he had some stellar seasons but his stats were starting to drop off. He was an emotional leader, but he was only a good pass rusher some of the time. His tackles were slowly decreasing. I don't know if they are going to switch to the 4-3, or Porter posed a threat to their new coach but I think it was best for the team.

As far as the Dolphins chances this upcoming season, I think they'll miss the playoffs by a game or two. They just don't have the offense to put up enough points to win a lot of games. Culpepper has missed too many games and will be rusty. Collins is only a mediocre backup. Their defense is getting old. Jason Taylor is decent, but Zach Thomas is losing his intensity and so is Porter.

Culpepper has never been a winner in his career that will not change. They have a rookie coach. They will have a good D but and offense that is very up in the air. Plus they play in a division with the Pats and the up and coming Jets. Tough spot for the Dolphins

I am with DB on this one... Porter is a beast and will make any team better at that position. I think the Phins will be a much better team this year if they can just solve the QB woes. As a Steeler fan, I hate to see Joey go, but such is the state of the NFL, especially in Pittsburgh... examples: Lloyd, Greene, Chad Brown, Kirkland, Thigpen, Randle El... We just don't keep high quality for long... We develop it, then ship it somewhere else.

The good news is, it keeps our team young, the bad news is it keeps our team young....

For all those people who think Porter is to old your crazy. Porter is a freak of nature. He finds ways to get to the qb, plus scares the hell out of the lineman to do it. You don't see to many 30 yr old linebackers getting double teamed like that. I think he just made the dolphins a legitimate threat, especially since the Dolphins lost that piece of crap coach.

As a Steelers' fan, I will miss Peezy; but since I really hate the New England quarterback, I couldn't wish it any better than for him to be able to get in his face at least twice a year. GIVE HIM HELL PEEZY! Of course, I won't be this excited when we play the Dolphins next season, what a home coming that will be for him.

Cheers!

You must really like the Dolphins. I think they have let too much talent go to free agency, especially do-everything Wes Welker.

I am not really sure of there chances. QB should be a main concern because right now I don't feel they have a good one. The D is a little too old but you never know...

EDIT -- 28-7!!! Patriots enable the Dolps the 'decrease back door cover'!!!! (THE crew THAT RUNS UP THE score, lays down contained in the 2d 0.5, to verify they did not score back -- and infrequently you're trying this, via throwing the balls in each single position, like they did.. to quit the CLOCK and enable Miami to take their time for that ONE TD that that they had opt for to break the 24-pts spread!!) ______ unusual issues can ensue, contained in the NFL... with the $$$ going heavily for the Patriots -- you imagine that at present.. the Eagles (+24), Ravens (+21), Jets (+21)... ALL coated, because they were that solid? (even as they're distinct the weakest offenses contained in the NFL?). And, because of the decrease back-to-decrease back Eagles & Ravens covers/close shaves... what number between YOU theory the Steelers had a fantastic danger at their +12-13 spread? (i'm nevertheless guffawing at how the NFL/refs presented 3 fifth-downs to the Pat,s at Ravens, AND gave them that very last TD, that could've been a No-capture, if it become all of us else...) The Eagles sport become amusing how AJ Feeley tossed it away overdue, truly openly... and nevertheless no man or woman questions how/why/even as issues are performed? (gotta love how the NFL hides this is element spread backbone/company plan in undeniable SIGHT... and all of us can't see it) i have "gained" per week with the Pats -- and today, the Pats are set-up for a huge WIN in maximum people's eyes. (yet, i does no longer guess on it!)

Wouldn't go crazy just yet. I think that was Porters first team visit. I'm sure he is checking out others.
