Been in the same boat. Best bet is the public library, because you can preview the books and let your child pick the ones of greatest interest.

You can't preview nearly as much when buying books online, and brick and mortar bookstores generally have much less selection than a good public library.

When I was a little older than 4, I liked the "Space Cat" series of books. These are still available in print.

If she likes pictures, try going to a new and/or used college bookstore, and getting an astronomy book with lots of photo's. My dad had to replace his when I was young, because I wore them out looking at all the pictures.
