If Norton/Symantec will not un-install using the Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

Symantec has developed a removal tool that will remove their product.

Go here and download the removal tool http://service1.symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?OpenDocument&seg=hm&lg=en&ct=us

Install and run it.

Have you already uninstalled Norton and/or symantec? If not, just removing the files and folders will not remove this mess from your computer. You won't be able to install another antivirus program if Norton is still hidden.

However, If it is not on your Start, Programs list, then click on C then Program Files and find everything labeled Norton and/or Symantec and right click to delete it.

If the program is not in you uninstall directory, you can always go into the drive manually and delete the files and directories. you can also run regedit (not for the non-computer-savvy) and remove all registry entries of it. Also run msconfig and make sure nothing is in the start-up section for it.

Click the right hand side button of your mouse and some deletion or removal options should be there to remove it.
