don't try to insult. Just be polite. One fine they the other person would change his/her attitude towards you. It's just a matter of tolerance. One with higher levels emerges as the winner.

Sarcasm with a mix of humor, diplomatically commenting (insulting, that is) without the person knowing that you actually did insult....but would strike later, but the best way, as some have said here is to ignore the person completely, to the point that you absolutely look through him as if he was made of glass....invisible...it could insult so bad...without you having to use words that you really may not be comfortable using..

it's sometimes inadvisable to answer a question with a question, but why would you want to insult someone?
