get a facecloth wet, roll it up, and freeze it. Then let the baby chew on it, can't hurt it any.

The best thing to do is give the baby calcium/magnesium supplements. When a baby is teething, the process of pushing the new teeth through the gums uses up all of their body's storehouse of calcium. It is a lack of calcium that causes a lot of the symptoms of "teething" (drooling, pain, etc.). It takes a day or two to build the calcium back up before you start to see a decrease in the symptoms. I gave and am currently giving my almost 11 month old cal/mag and it works wonders. I use Nature's Plus brand (bought at a health food store) and the capsules have the powder in them so I don't have to crush up a pill. I just give it to her in banana that I have crushed up (she is about 18 pounds and I give her about a quarter of a capsule every day). I have always thought that it is better to get rid of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms.

My doctors always said that baby orajel is not worth it. It comes off so soon with all the saliva. We tried it anyways, and our baby just gagged on the taste! She's teething right now, all of her back teeth are coming in. The only thing that works for her is Motrin. We give it to her once at night about 1/2 hour before bed. You can also try teething rings and cold washcloths. Lots of hugs and kisses!! Good luck and hang in there!

Frozen things, frozen banana works well, as do frozen teething rings of course.

And clove oil diluted in olive oil, check the dilution on your own mouth, too strong and it can burn. Clove oil is the main ingredient in most OTC temporary fillings. And unlike orajel it doesn't numb the throat.

I found that a soft bristle toothbrush will help with teething. Little once love to chew on them and it makes the irritation less noticable.

We do the frozen washcloth thing, also put an ice cube in a wash cloth and let the baby chew on that.

Get several of those teething rings that a filled with jel. Keep them in the freezer until he needs one of them. That way you can always have one that is frozen when he needs it.

Go with a washcloth wet with cold water. Kids love to chew the washcloth and suck the water out.

Believe it or not it works. Take a clean wash cloth and rub their gums with it. The roughness from the wash cloth will comfort their gums. Wrap it on your finger and gently caress the babies gums with it.
