Bashment music started out as a sub genre of reggae. It is also called dancehall. It has now evolved to encompass modern soca (soul calypso) and ragga soca (reggae and soca). This music is indigenous to the Caribbean.

It is Trinidadian slang for a sub-genre of soca music that is very fast paced, and designed to hype up a crowd and get the party jumping.

its also known as dancehall, like a mixture of soca, upbeat reggae, and loads of other caribbean feels to it, artists like vybez cartel, tony matterhorn, elephant man, t.o.k.(can be quite mellow at times),sean paul, beenie man and loads of other people i cant think of right now.
