Well, I see you got a lot of answers already about how you shouldn't be messing with your body and to follow your drs orders, etc. But I would like to offer some help without the judgement. You are a big girl and I'm sure you know all about how to ask your doc but here's the answer to your question. Yes, birth control is fine to bring on a period before starting Clomid--I have done it as directed my RE and ovulated just fine on the Clomid. Actually, studies have shown that when a woman takes birth control and then starts clomid immediately after she has a much higher rate of ovulation. If you get periods naturally and regularly then wait til the next one to start the birth control. If you don't get periods naturally and regularly then take the birth control for the full 3 weeks and then when the withdrawl bleed (period) starts take clomid on days 3-7 of your cycle. Remember, cycle day 1 is the first day of red flow, not spotting.

I took Provera to induce my period, and I am starting Clomid tomorrow, on Day 5. I'm not sure about using BC in the place of Provera, but Provera is quicker, so it probably makes more sense. Doctors prescribe Provera for 5-10 days, and most women get their period within a few days of finishing their meds. Birth control takes 21 days, Provera takes as few as 5, plus it is more commonly doctor recommended, so I would go with Provera. Also, doctors recommend using protection other than the pill for at least a month before conceiving because it is best to have the pill out of your system before trying to conceive. Recent studies indicate that getting pregnant before waiting does not raise the risk of birth defects, but it is still considered to be a good idea not to be on the pill while trying to get pregnant.

Don't take the birth control pill to induce your period and start clomid...you are cancelling one out with the other. There is a medicine that can induce your period...you should me monitored by your Dr when on clomid.

If you take birth control pills and then stop taking them, you will bleed but it will NOT be a proper period. It is called a breakthrough bleed and results from a drop in hormone levels.
If you are trying to conceive then taking the pill for whatever reason is not going to help you do that. It is more likely to mess up your cycle completely and may stop you ovulating for some time.

If you are irregular, your Dr will prescribe something to bring on your period. Taking bc will not bring on your period early, if you take it wrong, it can mess up your cycle. If you are having problems with irregular periods than you should talk to your Dr -- if not just wait for you period to come.Best of luck to you.
