A recent study has found that being overweight or obese increases the chances of pregnancy while using birth control pills. Gynecologists say that birth control pills don't have enough effect on overweight or obese women. Overweight women have 60% and obese women have 70% more chances of pregnancy than normal weight women while taking oral contraceptives regularly.
Here's some more info from that same article:

No one is too fat for sex ... and no one is too fat for dignity. No matter what your BMI is, you deserve good medical care. If your gynocologist isn't willing to work with you, call around and find one who is comfortable with larger women.

I've heard that before, I think it's because the larger your BMI the more difficult becoming pregnant becomes, and since the BC pills trick your body into thinking it is pregnant (in a since) they won't work for someone with complications. But if you aren't sure about what your doctor said then go to another one. There just people too, ya know? and what they say isn't the law, so you can always get a second opnion.

You should see a different doctor to get a second opinion. If u didn't see an OB/GYN than you should and if you did see a new one. There are different levels of hormones in every pill, i've had friends that were very big and had to find the right dosage and hormone levels to stop bleeding all month. Don't let her tell you that you are too fat to be on the pill, that a bunch of crap.

I haven't heard of this before - if I were you I'd definitely get a second oppinion - maybe you could ask at a gum clinic or just ask to see a different gp. There are alternatives, and I guess you could look at the possitives and use it to motivate you to loose weight (if you're not happy about your weight otherwise) - I need to improve my diabetes control before I can have a baby and that is a great motivator! Hope you get sorted soon xx

there are other methods of birth control: the pill, the implant, the patch, the ring, the shot, IUDs, and diaphragms, caps, and shields.
I would get a second opinion or call the doctor back - what does s/he recommend - the pill you were on wasn't working for you -
Don't leave a Dr's office without answers to your question this is your body - your life.
I included a link to Planned Parenthood on alternative methods of birth control - they have always been open and respectful to me.

NO, never !!!! There is no reason why you have to be on the PILL, is there. What about IUD (Inter Uterine Device), Patches or even Injections for birth control. just ask your GP.Good Luck.

I heard that the pill loses effectiveness if you weigh over 150lbs.
