I'm composing a peice for my GCSE Music Terminal Task and I need a little help on the tempo of my piece. I composed a piece with a tempo marking of 120 and the italian term I said that the italian term was vivace, but i now know this is wrong. Please can anyone tell me correct italian term for tempo 120 and what tempo marking vivace is?

These are all the Italian terms for tempo :
Largo 40-60
Larghetto 60-66
Adagio 66-76
Andante 76-108
Moderato 108-120
Allegro Vivace 120-168
Presto 168-200
Prestissimo 200-208

120 is just the borderline between Moderato and Allegro Vivace (that's the complete correct denomination in Italian).

"Vivace" does sound a little extreme for that tempo (quarter note = 120). I would say "Allegro" is the most common tempo marking for 120BPM, but if you prefer, "Allegretto" will also work.

Allegro is 120-168. Moderato is 108-120. Take your pick.
