Do architechs really use a lot of maths in their job?

My bf is interested in becoming an architech but despise maths, althought he is really good in it.

I think that computer design programs probably take care of most of the math in this day and age. Ratios and a mathematical understanding of design is very important, but I'll bet the actual calcs take place on the computer these days.

No, not as much anymore, I have many architects in my family and most are just average at math if not a little better than average.
