Are you looking for applications to enhance your experience with OS9, or are you looking to upgrade the OS to OS X?

In the first case, I would suggest iCab over IE for internet browsing. Otherwise, there are not many options for OS9 anymore. People are not developing for it, in general. I do not know what other existing software you are using, so it is hard to address that.

If you are looking to move to OS X, your computer will handle all versions of it, including the latest (MacOS 10.4 "Tiger"). There are several good, reliable browsers available for 10.2 and later. 10.3 and 10.4 come with Safari. Some browsers you could look into include Firefox, Opera, and OmniWeb.

MacOS 10.5 "Leopard" will be released this spring. If you are not in a big hurry, you may wish to wait until system requirements for that are published so you can see if it will run on your machine. If you have a Blue and White, it is not likely to run on it, so Tiger is probably your best bet.
