I think it will be Buffalo and Nashville. I think Detriot, Ottawa and New Jersey also have a great shot but, I think it will be Sabres-Predators. (Battle of the ugly uniforms!) I may be part Bias because I am a huge Sabres fan but, I never seen a team like the Sabres. For them to put together such a great run then lose guys like Afinogenov, Drury, Briere, Spacek, Connolly, Kotalik, and Paul Gaustad and bring up players from Rochester that have never played in an NHL game and not lose a beat is amazing. Lindy Ruff is the best coach in the NHL and I sure hope the Sabres can close it out this year. Even though there new uniforms suck! Bring back the vintage 70-80's Jerseys!
Go Sabres!

I have to agree that it's getting more and more unpredictable every year. There is a lot of parity in the league and the playoffs are a much different beast than the regular season. Look at the last 2 years... Calgary vs Tampa Bay and Edmonton vs Carolina.

No one would have predicted those two matchups or the 7 game final results either.

If that trend keeps going we may have an Atlanta vs Vancouver final this year... Atlanta in 7 games :)

It really is a very hard thing to predict as it all depends on injuries and hot goalies as well as players coming out of nowhere and having great playoff runs... like Fernando Pisani and Cam Ward last year.

If I HAD to bet I'd say it will be Buffalo vs Nashville but I'd put ZERO money on that bet because I'd say because those two teams are (arguably) the favorites right now... they will likely NOT meet in the finals. There will again be many upsets and any of the 16 teams that make the playoffs have a shot at the finals with a bit of luck and a lot of work.

it truly is genuine what you're affirming, for particular. historic previous must be taken under consideration in assessing West Vs. East, inspite of the truth that: The very last 2 cups have lengthy gone to Western communities, and admittedly, i don't think of which will replace this year. The West performs more suitable positive protection, traditionally, and protection wins championships. the perfect few communities to make it to the finals or win it contained in the East have not remained contenders in any respect; Tampa Bay, Carolina, Ottawa, Pittsburgh. properly, the Pens may nonetheless be contenders. in no way count number out a team with Crosby and Malkin on it. nonetheless, they are nonetheless in an abominable 10th contained in the East, and the postseason is drawing close swifter than that they had like. that they had more suitable positive restore that team quick.

If the NHL has their way it will be Pittsburgh so they can shove more of the Crosby is god propoganda down our throats. Being that the playoffs in the NHL are a total crapshoot it is hard to say. My predictions is San Jose and New Jersey. The league will continue to allow clutching and grabbing back in as the season goes along, so defensive minded teams with quality goaltending will succeed. It is much easier to shut down a big name player in a seven game series when officiating is questionable. The Sabres look good, but Buffalo is cursed when it comes to winning titles, hockey and football.

The Devils will make it from the east, on the shoulders of Brodeur and his best season yet in his 13 years. They will come into a '03 rematch against the Ducks of the west. As it did in '03 (went 7 games, each team winning all their home games) it will be a close series and very possibly another 7 gamer, with the Devils once again proving victorious.
