Allright, I got a sore throat just a few weeks ago. And I checked with my swim coach, because I needed to get healthy fast (In order to race at my top performance level.)
here is a list of thing that could help a lot.
1. I learned that taking a hot shower will help a lot, not only does it keep you clean, but the water vapors that you breath in will moisten your throat and ease it a lot.
2. Also washing your hands before you eat, and after you go to the Restroom will help keep your clean.
3. Change your sheets on your bed including your pillow case. Also give yourself a new warm blanket, because staying warm at night can make a huge difference. The new sheets and blamket will also help you so you wont be laying in your germs.
4. Eat saltine crackers while drinking a lot of liquids. The salt will help your throat heal faster, and the liquid will help flush the germs through your body, and also will keep you well hydrated.
5. Drink tea, The tea will feel good on your throat and ease the pain. try to avoid tea with caffeine. Or have just a little with caffeine. Because you need your sleep as well.
6. Get lots of rest at night while making sure that you are warm. This will make sure your body will have the energy to fight off bacteria and other germs.
7. If it doesnt heal in 0-4 days you should go see your doctor.
I hope this helped you. :)

Hello,
1. If you have some Vicks in your home. Dissolve two tea spoons of this into a large bowl with boiling water. Place a towel over your head and breathe in the vapours THROUGH your mouth for approx 3 minutes. It doesn't taste great but it works for some people.
OR more natrual ways
2. Make a horseradish cocktail. Try this Russian sore-throat cure. Combine 1 tablespoon pure horseradish or horseradish root with 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon ground cloves. Mix in a glass of warm water and drink slowly. DOESNT TASTE TOO GOOD THOUGH.
3. Steam it out. One old-fashioned remedy for a cold or sore throat is a steam tent -- sitting with your face over a bowl of steaming hot water and your head covered with a towel to keep the steam in. Adding 1 to 2 drops eucalyptus oil can be soothing. While it's easy to dismiss such a simple measure as an old wives' tale, several scientific studies have shown that steaming can actually shorten the duration of a throat infection.
4. Suck on garlic. This Amish remedy can treat or prevent sore throats and strep. Peel a fresh clove, slice it in half, and place 1 piece in each cheek. Suck on the garlic like a cough drop. Occasionally, crush your teeth against the garlic, not to bite it in half, but to release its allicin, a chemical that can kill the bacteria that causes strep. and sore throats.
5. Take an analgesic. Plain old aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen can do wonders for sore-throat pain. However, aspirin should not be given to children under the age of 19 because of the risk of Reye's syndrome, a potentially fatal condition. Pregnant and nursing women should check with their doctor before taking any medication.
6. Sip lemon juice. Mix 1 tablespoon each of honey and lemon juice in 1 cup warm water. Sip this mixture.
7. Drink cider vinegar. This sore throat cure is found in several different remedies. Here are a few of the more popular ones:
For sipping: Mix 1 tablespoon each of honey and cider vinegar in 1 cup warm water.
For gargling: You'll need 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup cider vinegar, and 1 cup warm water. Dissolve the salt in the vinegar, then mix in the water. Gargle every 15 minutes as necessary.
8. An Old-Fashioned Sore-Throat Tonic
The following was extracted from a book of home remedies published more than 130 years ago. Some doctors still swear that it is surprisingly palatable and works wonders. (Do not give it -- or any other honey-containing food or beverage -- to children under two years of age. Honey can carry a bacterium that can cause a kind of food poisoning called infant botulism and may also cause allergic reactions in very young children.)
* 1 tablespoon honey, any kind
* 1 tablespoon vinegar, preferably apple-cider vinegar
* 8 ounces hot water
Mix all the ingredients together in a mug and sip slowly (but don't let it get cold). Use as often as desired.

Don't talk. Sounds obvious right but, a lot of times a sore throat, unless accompanied by drainage, is cause by stress on the vocal chords. Chamomile tea with honey and lemon are good but, as a singer I do a shot of warm Grand Marnier with the juice of half a lemon.

I used warm honey and lemon juice. Take about 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of honey (you can add a little more if it's too sour) and mix it, and then heat it in the microwave for a few seconds. Take this slowly in spoonfuls throughout the day.
Also, my mother swears by apple cider vinegar, and says if you drink a teaspoon or two, you should feel better by tomorrow. I personally can't stand the smell of the stuff, but it may be worth a try. Good luck!

Take aspirin or Ibuprofen until it goes away since these drugs are anti-inflammatory. You can't heal it any faster any other way, just lessen the pain. If it doesn't go away in 3 days you should see your doctor because it could be strep throat, or something worse. Also if you just need soothing I'd recommend a dum-dum sucker or something of that nature that does not have menthol in it.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Garggle with Coca Cola or Pepsi, about half a can, it might irritate you at first but the carbonation and acids from the soda will eat all the junk off the inside of your mouth and throat, then try the saltwater thing if you dont have anymedicine or honey or lemon, you might want to ask your neighbors if they are nice people

My grandfather mixes hot tea, lemon juice, & honey together and drinks it....butI have an aunt who adds a kick to the same thing by putting like 1-2 shots of liquor in with that. And take some tylenol. You gotta have tylenol at home--who doesn't?!

Leave the medication out, take honey and lemon juice in a glass of warm water and sip all day if you have too. Salt water was a good idea.
