I've always been sort of shy but usually I got out of my shell pretty quickly and turned into a wild, crazy, impulsive-type person. But ever since I started going to my all-girls school 4 years ago, I never was able to get out of my shell and it's frustrating - so frustrating. I don't like the girls I go to school with - their mostly rich little brats who drink/do drugs = BORING - and my friends don't mean the *world* to me like other people's friends. I could stand some different ones. I don't have a boyfriend or boy friends.

I'm really unhappy and lonely. I just want college to work out so I can get back to my true self. I hate being so insecure. I feel like I'm so boring - I used to be so different. :(

Is my shyness/insecurity just a phase?

Girl those friends are not helping....... your insecurity is somethin you will have to battle urself.... but you need to relieve urself of any excuses u have to hide urself. You are important and need to be urself... Shyness is caused by having low confidence... Try joining different groups that the current friends are not involved in. Most schools have tons of events you can attend. What usually works for me to get out of my shell... is functions that force you to interact... I also loosen up once I know my surroundings and get comfortable.. if you join a group that has active participation and they choose who talks u will do great!

IF you dont like ur friends very much.... dont choose them remember u are an active part of ur own life if they dont work... let em loose

I too say it's just a phase. Don't give in to peer pressure. In 10yrs, those druggie girls will wonder why they're living on the street, wearing the same underwear for a month, and having trouble remembering what year it is.

You, however, if you make your own path in life, will get what you want with some determination. That's how it works.

This shyness has grown out of your frustation of being in a different environment, perhaps you are more suited to only be around girls, like I was told 16 years ago, college is only minutes away in your great big life, well that didnot soothe me........I was so anxious that I made myself miserable thinking about leaving.......once I got to Columbia I was in my element........no one was the same! Hang on and wait, your time is coming.....so what if you are shy, who cares just be yourself and your life will go as YOU want it to go.

Come on.Happiness is what you make. Its like a man who waited to be married to be happy. Then thought he would be when he has kids, then waited til they grew up......You can be happy this moment.I dont understand y u think boyfriends can make you happy. All they want is sex. They use you, throw you off.I wont blame them coz they themselves are not sure bot anything.Only people you can b sure of is your parents.Be a smart gal, cheerful, then you will see people getting attracted to u.I read that you are a good gal not into boozing and such stuff.i really appreciate it.keep it up.Glow yourself up.Pamper yourslf with some music, read lots. This is a phase to enjoy.REMEMBER

Yes, just a phase. Doesn't sound like your personality has permanently changed or anything.
