My boyfriend currently told me he got signed for the semi profootball team I'm having trouble believing this, he is currently not in school. I thought you had to be enrolled in some type of college or something. He said he just got a signing bonus of ten thousand dollars and a two hundred fifty thousand dollar contract
for a year with the practice squad. I am totally green when it comes to this. Do they pay players for the practice squad. What website would I go to, to find out about semi pro football players. He is supposedly playing for the dallas cowboys. He is like real skinny and I was wondering why in the hell would they sign someone like him. I love him to death but I just can't get myself to beleive this.

2005 Pracitce Squad
The Dallas Cowboys signed wide receivers Tom Crowder, J.R. Tolver and Jamaica Rector, guards Shannon Snell and Matthew Tarullo and running back Keylon Kincade for 2006.

The six players, who were all on the practice squad at the end of the regular season, are now on the active roster.

Dallas also has rookie DE Vontrell Jamison, who was added to the active roster before Sunday's game against St. Louis.

2006 Practice squad
More Shuffling

The Cowboys have been rather busy with their practice squad during the last week, making three more moves again Tuesday.

After cutting kicker Shaun Suisham from the active roster last Friday and bringing him back to the practice squad on Saturday, the Cowboys have now released Suisham again from the practice squad.

The Cowboys added wide receiver Jamaica Rector, who cleared waivers after being released from the 53-man roster last Friday, and guard/center Matt Tarullo, who spent the last two training camps with the club and was on the Cowboys' practice squad all last season.

The Cowboys also signed tight end Jason Randall, who played in NFL Europe this past summer with Berlin (17 catches, 203 yards, 2 TDs) after spending all of last season on Detroit's practice squad. Randall went to training camp with the Falcons this past summer but was released before the start of the season.

Two spots on the practice squad were opened up last weekend after the Cowboys signed running back/return specialist Skyler Green and tight end Tony Curtis to the 53-man roster for Sunday's game. Both players made their NFL debuts against the Texans.

The Cowboys also lost guard D'Anthony Batiste from the practice squad after he signed with the Carolina Panthers over the weekend.

The current practice squad now consists of Rector, Tarullo, Randall, cornerback Quincy Butler, quarterback Matt Baker, defensive end Stephen Bowen, wide receiver Damarius Bilbo, linebacker Carl-Johan Bjork and tight end Andy Thorn.

In addition to Tarullo and Randall, the Cowboys also worked out tight end Matt Kranchick, kicker Kurt Smith, guard Isaac Snell and wide receiver Jerheme Urban.

I went to high school with a guy that was on the Chiefs practice squad. There is no way he is getting paid $250,000 a year to play on the practice squad. They do get paid, but its something closer to $40 or $50 grand for most players. And if he is playing on a semi-pro team on the practice squad it wouldn't even be close to that. The semi-pro stars are only making a few hundred bucks a game. So I would say your boyfriend is full of it.

There are semi pro teams that do pay you to play. You would not be in college because as soon as you are paid in a sport it takes away your college eligibility. I would have to say that he is making up a tall tale though I am pretty sure that size contract is way high for semi pro ball and I don't believe that semi pro teams have practice squads.

The practice squad gets paid, and they are among the lowest-paid players. The practice squad guys try to make the active roster so they can get more playing time and money.

The Dallas Cowboys web site can tell you who was on their practice squad for 2006. With the teams reloading for 2007, there is no practice squad until the regular season starts again.

i played a few years of semi pro football in new England, and no one ever got paid. I've heard there are some pro teams who do have "farm teams" in which they do pay players, but these guys are very good players. i think your bf is a liar, i doubt those guys make that kind of money. I'm not sure if your bf played high school or college, but unless he was outstanding at those levels, no one in their right mind would pay him to play. ask him to buy you something real expensive, and watch how fast he comes clean!!
