If your computer was running fine before Saturday, your best bet is to do a System Restore. To do this, click Start/ Programs/ Accessories/ System Tools/ System Restore. Click the "Restore my computer to an earlier time" box, then click "Next". Choose a date -before Saturday- that is marked in bold on the calendar shown, then follow the directions. Good luck :-)

You might try and clear out your system startup and non microsoft services as well.

To do this: Click on start/run and type in msconfig and click ok. This will bring up the system configuration utility. Click on the startup tab and click the disable all button at the bottom Right. Then click on the services tab. At the bottom check the box that is by itself under the list that says Hide all Microsoft services. Then again, click disable all. Apply, close and restart when prompted. Upon reboot check the "dont show this message again" box at the bottom of the window that appears on startup.Try to restart again, and see if the problem is still present.

If not you can go back into MSCONFIG first go back to the startup tab and check back the first 3 or so boxes then click ok and restart, again check the "dont show this message again" box at the bottom of the window that appears on restarting. Keep adding the checks back until you are able to narrow down which application is causing the issue. Leave this unchecked ,reinstall or update that program.

Also increasing your systems page file size to 1.5 times the amount of RAM you have in your system should also help.

To check how much RAM you have Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Here it should show you the amount of RAM in the system. If you have 512MB or 1.00GB the page file size should be either 768MB or 1500MB, for both the Min and Max settings (its best that they are both the same)

To edit the Page file size, you should again Right click My Computer and select Properties, then click the Advanced tab at the top. Next Click the Settings button under Performance. Then click the Advanced tab on this menu. Next at the bottom of this menu click the Change button under the Virtual memory section. Click the dot for "Custom Size" Then enter the number for the amount of 1.5, to 2 times the memory that you have in the system. 1 GB will equal prox 1024MB. These boxes only take the numbers in MBs so you would need to use 1536 for 1 Gig and so on. Again the Inital size and Maximum size should be the same number. Then click Set, Ok, then Ok again and restart the system. This should make sure that your overall page file size is at its optimal setting, which should correct the errors.

If not the last thing I would suggest would be to do a Windows XP system restore to a point before the problem started.

To access system restore, go to Start|All Programs|Accessories|System Tools|System restore and tell it to restore to an earlier time. Then select a date from the calendar when it was last working correctly. Any programs you have installed since then will need to be reinstalled, but your data would remain intact. Also the system restore in reversable, if necessary.

Hope this Helps!

Well your resources could be taken up by a virus, but it is probably just a small paging file for your virtual memory. Open my computer and click system, then performance, and then virtual memory. Set it to double your RAM (which may be too low if your computer is 3 years old).

type in adaware se then download free version, do complete system scan, and get rid of any bad or corrump files. this should speed things up a bit, as to the virtual mem, you must firest understand that virtual is not real memory, your computer should generate and add more as needed

Please go to control panel double click system icon choose advanced than choose performance than choose advanced than click change in virtual memory than choose the drive other than OS drive click custom & change value of min & max Memory to 1024 & 2048, If you are using VISTA than make it 2048 MB & 4096 MB respectivly. Can you say after executing it that it is not a best answer? But this is yiur discrition.

hmmm, I love chocolate.

Seriously, you can adjust your virtual memory by the following.

start, control panel, performance and maintenance, system, advance, under performance click settings, select advance, under virtual click change and adjust the size to the maximum allowed.
You should also clear your cache and defragment the hard drive.

Have a wonderful day.
