My baby never liked the binky even though I bought her one. She just spits it right out.

My twins were born premature. The nurses in the NICU gave the to y daughters to promote the sucking reflex. When the turned one, I took them away and they never seemed to realize they were gone. I have seen kids that were 5 still sucking on them. Some kids just do it for habit..

All babies are different. Just because your baby didn't like the binky doesn't mean others don't. That said, most kids are addicted to their binkies for way too long simply because the parents allow it.

The binky was invented to replace the comfort sucking that newborns do at the breast.
Some kids just have a strong oral sucking reflex.

Some babies just have the urge to suck more while others don't really have it at all. Of my 3 girls 1 did not take it at all, 1 needed it all the time, and one only needed it while going to sleep.

Babys have a sucking/suckling reflex. Some may also prefer different styles. Also theres new research that says they can help decrease the chace of SIDS - although I dont think the babies know that.

My son would never take one either...babies have a need for sucking...its a relfex action and helps soothe them.

baby's are born with a sucking reflex. some baby's enjoy it for comfort. others dont need the comfort.

Sucking soothe them. My daughter had one and I had no problem getting it away from her. My son is not a big fan of one. But he has no problem sucking.
