Other than driving, your only two options are really flying and the bus. The bus is cheaper, but it takes longer, of course. It's a pretty quick flight from DFW to Houston, and then another short hop to Galveston's airport. Once you get to Galveston, you'll have to have some way to get around, though, so driving your own car may be the best way.

The bus is gonna be the cheapest next to driving yourself. If you watch, you might be able to get a reasonable airfare. Considering however all the crap you have to go through at the airports now with the security you can almost drive or take a bus and get there almost as fast as flying.
