I would actually recommend you ask during the interview "When will you be making a decision?" or "What are the next steps?" The company can give you an idea of how long it would be before they plan to hire someone, which will tell you an appropriate timeframe for following up with them.
If they say they'll be making a decision within the next few days, wait for them to contact you. If it's a week or two, give them until close to that time before you contact them to follow up and find out if they've made a decision yet.
I would definitely not call the next day as many employers would see that as overly pushy, unless you were told they were making a decision the day of the interview.

If you had the foresight to ask during the interview when they would be making their decision, and have not heard from them by that day, call them the following day.
If not, and depending on what type of urgency you sensed in their need to hire someone, it would not be out of the question to call them 48 hours later to thank them for the interview and follow up with any additional questions.
It they mentioned having many more interviews after yours, give them 3-5 business days.

You may need to wait a week and try sending a thank you letter after the interview. It makes everything formal and they will remember you. So in case you didn't get the job and have another opening you will be one of the candidate.

you're able to desire to on the instant take a seat and digital mail or fax a thank you be conscious to the interviewer, advising which you extremely delight in the time the interviewer took with you, and which you're very fascinated interior the prospect to artwork for the corporation, and propose which you watch for listening to from him/her. do not call--the interviewer will %. up the telephone and touch you whilst the time is powerful. each and every interview you're taking, even those that don't flow somewhat nicely, could desire to be observed up with a thank you be conscious. Do it an afternoon or 2 after the interview. It shows the interviewer which you're well mannered, fascinated, and which you stick to by using. terrific of success to you. Please do not tell the interviewer which you're able to be able to desire to artwork NOW. The interviewer already informed you that it would take the time to come again to you. To call for a determination now in the event that they don't look to be waiting to verify to you, is to ask them to say no offering you the job. you're able to be able to desire to artwork interior of their time-physique, not yours, even although you decide on $, they gained't hire you swifter because of fact of that.

One week after your interview, pick up the phone and call. Ask when a decision will be made. It's not unreasonable to ask about their plans for filling the job.
