I work at business that sells new and used cubicles and laminate worksurfaces. So we deal with this all the time. The easiest way is with some graffiti off or a brand called Oopps that removes stickers and such....if it is real stubborn we use a real fine grade steel wool no more then 0000...and some cleaner and lighty rub the ink off. Make sure not to scrub to hard or you may wear through the laminate. Good luck

use a permanent marker.
Yes it sounds dopey, but if you do it a little at a time it works. Use the marker to mark ON TOP OF the original mess, then immediately wipe it off with a clean cloth. (The "new" marker solvent will release the "old" marker solids.) Several times and it will remove most of the mark. Then use hairspray or the Mr Clean eraser.

From experience, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works or the Clorox Bleach pen. If all else fails, WD40 (yes, the WD40 that you are thinking of). Best of luck!

I don't know what your desktop is made of, but those spray on bleach cleaners work really well. Test a small area first.
Good luck.

Try Hairspray. If that doesn't work try nail polish remover as long as its not a wood desk top- Nail polish remover will ruin a wood finish.
