I have made my avatar to look like her. She's 28 and she's a historian. How should I name her?

Mackensie Sinclair. Mack for short. She's named after her maternal grandfather and it's always a surprise when serious and self important male scholars meet her and find a girl instead of an old codger from Glasgow.

An authors characters will usually tell him what they are to be called. But its a matter of taste If you like trick names it gives the character extra dialogue to explain..."My parents liked movie stars",,," my dad was an astrologist", "ma didn't spell", "Mom wanted us to be individuals" ,"My name is sue"( a boy named sue)
Now there is the alternative that a character might pick his own name ie from his background as an adult so an historian might pick a name for himself showing historical significance or plot foreshadowing or just a misspelling of his own character basics Gotta Grindgold. or poke your finger into a phone book.

You would enjoy The Writer's Digest Character Naming Sourcebook.

I'm thinking Samantha, Rachel, Sharon, Rose.

Being a historian I would give her a classic name ie: Elizabeth, Sara, Victoria. A name that has historical significance
