have you r checked with your local special care baby unit - they like knitted tiny little hats and knitted blankets to keep the babies warm when they come out for cuddles.

Its not uk based, but the AMerican site http://www.knittingforcharity.org has free patterns you could use if knitting for special care baby charities or cancer patients in the UK. I don't think there's a British equivalent.

Advice to contact your local special care baby ward is good. Cancer wards sometimes appreciate "Cancer caps", soft hats for patients losing their hair through chemotherapy. Local homeless hostels and refugee charities often appreciate knitted blankets and jumpers. My local nursery and reception class requested some knitted toys when they found out I was a knitter.

Innocent smoothies has an annual Supergran appeal to knit hats for it's juice bottles which raise funds for Help the Aged. Info is at http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/supergran, but it doesn't look like they've launched their 2007 campaign yet.

Feed the Children also has info on knitting childrens jumpers for them on their webpage which is http://www.feedthechildren.org.uk/pages/resources_knitting.shtml

Hope this helps

Hi, as well as
http://www.eparenting.co.uk/knitfest/charityknitting.shtml

try the Angel Yarns UK Knitting Forum -
http://www.knittingforums.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=23&sid=47e054156a2769af097fd0c945f852ef

there doesn't seem to be one charity site for knitting in the UK but the site contains links to places that would love you to knit for them, like:
http://www.bliss.org.uk/pagebuild.php?texttype=howyou_volunteer
http://www.biss.org.uk/richtext.asp?page_id=25&content_id=316

Not a website, but you could also try the geriatric unit of your local hospital, or something of that ilk. My local one wanted blankets made, then bedcapes - I've done both.
