This question and the responses just goes to show you how much society does not understand transexual individuals. Legally, a man who has a sex change operation would be considered heterosexual because he is now a woman who is attracted to men. This person has most likely not identified as being gay because he has always felt he was a woman. The subject of transexual and their gender identification is largly a new psychological topic in medical arenas. Many strides have been made for these individuals, but society has yet to grasp (or want to grasp) what or who they really are.

Transgendered sweetie..... To most of the world it's gay, to people that understand the mental workings it's straight. Just treat them like a person though. What does it matter anyway? Do you treat straight and gay people differently?

I am a pre-op transsexual (surgery very soon) and I consider myself a straight woman. I have always been attracted to men, but only as a woman. My fantasies and desires were always of me being a woman and being with a man.

it really depends on whether or not you accept the concept of transsexuality.. what makes a person and what makes their sexuality? is it their original body, or is it their mind, their brain?
in this person's mind, they are a woman, so regardless of how they were originally born, they have modofied their body to make it as womanly as possible. so in their own mind, they are a woman who is attracted to men.
i too am a woman trapped in a man's body. but when i transition and become a woman, i see myself being attracted to women.. some may call me a "confused straight man" but in my own mind, i see myself as a transswoman who is a lesbian.

I would most likely call him by them by their name. After I got to know them a bit I might give them a nick name based on how close we became. But I think their name would be best to start off with.
But please keep in mind that I am strange and have few friends. So I should not be listened too under any stage in the life cycle.
