My work computer is ancient, runs Win 98 and has only 56 meg of RAM. Does it make a difference as far as RAM organization/usage goes if I close a window by clicking the "X" button vs. closing it by selecting a menu option (like File->Exit). I'm wondering if using the "X" button all the time gradually eats up useable RAM.

How about on my home computer which runs XP SP2?

Don't worry, both ways are correct with no differences in the result.

i too run win 98, and to be honest, it doesnt matter which way you close a window. pull down menu, or the "X" button are fine. along with Alt + F4, Alt + F + X (or Alt + F + C).
