Yes, not everyone loses their mucous plug before labor. Also, some women lose their plug and never realize it because they lose it in separate pieces. I would definitely call your doctor because this could be the real deal. Good luck and congrats.

It is probably just false labour. You apparently will know when you are in true labour. I am 39 weeks and 2 days along and also get this. If you had sex recently or an internal exam, you will also notice cramping. I had cramping for 5 hours after sex. My OB said my cervix had been irritated. Braxton Hicks contractions also increase closer to due date. As for the mucus plug, you might have lost it in the toilet and not even noticed it. I lost mine gradually over a month and this too is normal. If you think you are in labour though, just time your contractions and if they are 5 minutes apart, lasting a full minute, and if they are becoming more painful, then this is true labour. Good luck to you!

Yes, you can go into labor without losing your plug. Can you time your contractions?? If so, you need to call your doctor. If their not regular, like every 5 minutes, then you still have time. You might want to call and let them know how your feeling. They might want for you to go to the office. Good luck and congratulations on the baby.

That's early labor, which could last up to several days or weeks. You'll lose your plug before it gets serious, but the cramps help get rid of it and kick-start labor.

Keep track of the rhythm of the cramps, and watch for your plug. It's getting close,
congrats and good luck

Hi - there are two possibilites. Braxton hicks which are like small contractions getting you ready for labour or it is labour.

I have had seven children and my bet is that it is labour. You can be in labour without losing your mucous plug. Time the contractions and if they are regular - make your way to the hospital.

Good luck and congratulations.

I would suggest to go to the hospital if you feel contractions close to 2 min apart. Mucus plug does not necessarily mean anything.

It might be early labor or false labor. Not everyone loses their plug and not everyone knows if they lost it.

It's probably Braxton-Hicks contractions...I'd call your Dr just to be on the safe side...Never take lightly any unusal feelings you may have...better safe than sorry...especially as far along as you are...
And congratulations! I hope you and baby-to-be will do well and you will have a happy, healthy baby...

yes you can go into labor before you loose it i went into pre-term labor a little over a week ago, and haven't lost it i was 34 weeks at that time, and i had a appointment yesterday with my doctor and i told him basically what you explained in your question, and he responded with, if your in actual labor YOU WILL KNOW, he told me to think of what i refer to as the worst pain ever.... and throw that all away .... and that's what real labor feels like ... kinda scary thought.....
