I answered a similar question asked by a 12 year old in here. The answer is pretty much the same so I'll copy and paste it here:
I don't see what's the big deal about young girls wearing thongs. It's just an underwear. People need to get over it and accept that thongs are here to stay. People say that they are too sexy for young girls, well, for a lot of guys (including me), panty lines are very sexy too. Especially when they are going up the butt. I know it may sound sick, but I’m being honest about what we guys like. So what are you going to do? Tell young girls to not wear panties so that they won’t show any panty lines? Well, knowing that a girl is going commando is sexy too! Everything and anything can be sexy if you want to see it that way. I’m sure that to a child molester, the last thing he cares about is what type of panties a young girl is wearing. He cares more about what’s inside those panties.
Anthony Robbins wrote in his book “Unlimited Power”, that “Nothing has any mean except the mean we give it. My point is that thongs are just underwear, just a piece of cloth. If anybody wants to see them as sexy, sluty, sexual, or any other way they chose to see it, then they have the problem, not you. Who is really the sick person? You for wearing them while you are “too young”, or them for having a very narrow and sexual mind?
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, visual sexual stimuli is also in the eye of the beholder. The same is true to visual sexual stimuli. For example, some people are sexually excited by looking at a sexy pair of legs, but other people are not. Some get turned on by looking at women with big breasts, some other people don’t find them so exciting.
Don’t forget that if you live in the US, you live in one of the more puritan countries in the world. The French (among many others) have the ability to look at a naked body and appreciate it’s beauty. But in the US, most people connect nudity with sexuality and they can‘t separate the two. From what some people post in places like this, it appears that most people connect underwear with sexuality as well. That’s sad!
You also have to understand that when people are ignorant about any specific subject, they often make up whatever they can to support what they think it’s right. For example, some people talk about young girls wearing thongs and child molesters. A while back during college, I wrote a research paper related to criminal behavior (of robbery, rape, and child molestation). Something that most people don’t understand, is that these type of criminals (just like most other criminals) are opportunist. The robber doesn’t look for the biggest and strongest person to rob. A rapist doesn’t necessarily look for he sexiest girl walking down the street. The child molester doesn’t look for the young girl that is wearing thongs. Something that all these criminals have in common is the fact that they look for the weakest and easiest prey they can find. All these criminals look for victims that present them with easy and weak (less likely to fight back) targets.
Let’s say that you are 11 and you are at the park. And lets say that a child molester sees you and your thong sticking out over you pants while you were sitting, but you are in the presence of several other people. Even if they are not with you. On the same park, he/she sees a young girl your age not showing a thong but sitting by herself in a somewhat secluded area. Who do you think that he/she is going to approach? The answer and the reason why is very obvious.
Research have shown that rapist and child molesters care very little about what the victim is wearing, they care more about finding victims that are at the wrong place at the wrong time. That generally that means lonely and secluded places.
So hey, if you like them and find them comfortable, then go ahead and wear them. Some people find them comfortable and some don’t. It’s dumb for anybody to tell you not to wear them cause they are uncomfortable. The reason being that only you can determine if they comfortable to you or not. Once you have picked the right size and material and you’ve worn them for a little while, they feel so comfortable that you don’t even feel them. Just make sure that you buy the right size and it’s best to start off with thongs made of microfiber. Which is a very soft and stretchable material. It moves with you instead of against you. Don’t buy anything too thin either. Anything that resembles the thin material on a g-string. At least not at first. The Cosabella Talco Microfiber Thong, from the Cosabella lingerie line, is constructed from soft micro fiber and it’s a winner of the InStyle magazine Comfy Thong Award, this Cosabella thong is designed to fit without ride-up or binding. Good luck!

When I was in Jr high I started wearing them. I thought they were more comfortable because once you get used to them, you don't even notice them. With regular panties, you get wedgies all the time and those wedgies are made of way more fabric and they feel very uncomfortable. So I solved the wedgie issue by switching to thongs. If you're gonna have a wedgie, a thong makes a much more comfortable wedgie.
Another thought: Thongs are not as in style as they used to be. Now it's all about the hipster boyshorts style underwear. And if you buy the plain cotton ones they're really comfy. I think the fruit of the loom ones are the best, and they're tagless.
Keep in mind cotton is a more breathable fabric and therefore healthier for your "stuff." And cotton is more comfy anyway, and it will look less tacky. A cute, simple cotton thong is way cuter than a bright red nylon polyester thong with sparkles all over it.
The really expensive, highly decorative thongs tend to get killed by washing machines really fast, so they're fun on occasion but they don't live very long at all. The metal dangly decorations fall off, the threads come apart, etc. that's why they're supposed to be hand washed. But who wants to hand wash that many pairs of underwear come laundry day? Nobody.

A good age to start wearing thongs is about 12-13 years old. A good age to start wearing bikini thongs is about 15-18 years of age. A good age to stop wearing all thongs, underwear and bikini is about 35-37 years old. If you have the figure for them, it's a very good thing to wear them!

If you are at the age where you don't want panty lines I will recommend to wear thongs . Don't wear them every day with jeans and tight pants because the material irritation that the thong causes will rub their skin raw," Thong panties, particularly combined with tight, low cut jeans can cause the following health risks; vaginal and bacterial infections, haemorrhoids and lacerations of the anus.
Women wearing thongs while pursuing activities in which they sweat, or bounce around a lot eg. vigorous Yogic exercises or horseback riding could cut off the circulation to your entire vagina!
many could attest to thong wearing without problems....but even in these cases you have to be very attentive when it comes to your hygiene.
Generally, thong underwear is not the problem - frequent unmonitored wearing of them is.

hahahaha!! So funny! um, it's really up to you, and your parents. my mom only lets me wear a thong if i workout. noooo victorias secret for me! u usually wear thong if you are 1) having sex, or 2) wearing an outfit that requires a thong so there are no panty-lines, or whatever. most parents with public school kids let them have thongs at 13-16 years old, for gym or other reasons. ASK YOUR PARENTS. Personally, if you aren't working out, it's a wedgie from HELL.

I got my first pair when I was about 16. I wouldn't say they are bad or good. They're underwear. It all depends on the person wearing them. Some people hate them, and others love them.

Thongs are for two main purposes. One to hide panty lines, and two for showing them off. If you aren't wearing them to conceal panty lines, and your not old enough to "show" them to anyone, then I would hold off. They are pretty uncomfortable anyway. They feel like a wedgie. Young girls look very tacky wearing thongs. Concealing yourself is nicer :)
