Castaway for me. Had me gripped all the way, then in a split second from seeing a ship he's suited healthy and clean shaven. What about the thrill of bein rescued or the mental strain of coming to terms with his return to civilization so quickly. The look on the rescuers faces, the rescue itself for crying out loud.

Lately, I think of the following:

Stranger than Fiction, better plot development/editing
The Quiet, better promotion
Flags of Out Fathers, better screenplay
Scorched, better promotion

And there are are just a ton of Sci-fi/action movies like Judge Dredd, which could have benefitted. I think the emerging trend in the industry is to turn out sci-fi and action movies which generate big bucks but cost very little.

Troy immediately springs to mind.
Then in no particular order Rocky Balboa, Derailed, Cold Mountain, Inside Man, Children of Men,Poseidon, Saw 2 and 3, Wicker Man the list can go on and on. The reasons range from mis casting, bad scripts and bad actors.

PS. Future predictions Transformers and the next Rambo

The Stepford Wives, should have been updated version with the sense of isolation the main character had. Not a comedy and farce. It was a classic eerie film that kinda warned us not just about the desire of a perfect life & robot stuff but technologies fast pace and the horror story would have been great in right hands. In the bin at idea stage.

Goblet of Fire was a real disappointment. I follow the HP books very closely and this was my fav book. I know they had to cut some of the story but MOST of the essential stuff of the story was cut....it was all about the tournament...ok Winky the house elf, was left out and it was a big part of the story.

Similar, in Fellowship of the Rings, they left out Tom Bombadil.

I guess movies never do measure up to the books. But damn. These were pretty big elements of the story to omit for a movie, presumably for length. For such big box office successes, you can recover the cost of making a longer movie...so just make a longer movie! Your audience can follow along???

I completely agree with the wicker man - what a complete waste of eyeballs, i thought it was going great guns untill the last half hour, but dont agree with saw 3 i loved that! Another that springs to mind is war of the worlds, the acting was great, but they could have added a lot more alien stuff

The Nicholas Cage version of the Wicker Man. Such a good idea but the film kinda sucks. The ending wasn't that great, it could have been better.

I think they should have waited two years before making Independence Day cos the effects would have been much better. They could have done more with the Hostel too. That said i like both those movies.

Way too many to name, but one that stands out in my mind because I was watching a biography of hers recently was Speed 2 with Sandra Bullock. Speed was awesome, now if they just had Keanu Reeves in Speed 2, with better graphics, etc. would've been an awesome movie.
