What kinds of problems could radioactive idodine treatment for thyroiditis cause to a woman's reproductive organs?

dear CRK... radioactive iodine is a double edged sword.. on one hand it relieves thyroiditis but on other hand if over dosed or in long term can cause hypothyroidism which can cause menstruasl problems amd sometime unfertility.. but its chances are v low thougt they may be....

Just keep this in mind: Radioactive Iodine is what is released in a nuclear disaster and it will "nuke" your thyroid. Under a physician's care it can help thyroiditis with minimal side effects.

I don't know, but I do know that having healthy thyroid levels is a hell of a lot more important than your ability to reproduce! Ask your doctor.

It is a simple isotope and it can't harm you. It is compared to Americanium (Am) which is used in you smoke detectors that it doesn't harm you.
