Perhaps a rewording might be more useful. Suppose there was an intellegence of the current level that existed billions of years of ago when the universe was much smaller than it is now, such that the limits of vision exceeded the size of the universe. Now the question becomes what do the edge of the Universe look like?

Being able to see the edge of the universe does not add or detract from the merit of "the big bang" theory. When you consider the mathematics of the concept then you will see that there really is no "edge" of the universe. Just like the universe does not just stop. There are some really nice books out there you should read to get a little more understanding of why. Obviously Hawkins book would be first on the list.

If you stood at the 'technical' edge of the universe (which can roughly be considered the place where matter and nothing exist) what would you 'see'?

Since sight requires the transmission and receiving of light in order to reproduce an image, and because there would be no light source beyond the 'edge', you would see nothing.

And if you carried a light source with you, what you would see instead would be the light radius of the source. So technically, the light radiating 'out' from the edge of the universe would, in fact, extend the edge, but only to the extent that it radiates.

When 1 + 0 meet, something and nothing, something can only find reference within itself, which is why the answer is 1.

Because nothing about the functions of the big bang theory accounts for the convenience of you being able to see the edge of the universe; it was not designed for that purpose.

there is no edge of the universe. mathematically, the universe's shape is most like a cube with opposite corners attached,

similarly the earth has no edge. you can walk forever and never fall off

The reason it wasn't made smaller is because there would be some griping about it being too small.
Just be happy with it exactly as it is. The edge isn't that spectacular anyway.
