I dont trust Obama, but I dont trust Hilary even more. If there has to be a democratic President I would choose Obama, but I would much rather have McCain

From that Ramsey Clark comment, I know that this is probably not a serious question and it is just a sad attempt to smear a man for being named after his African father, instead of actually debating his policy ideas.
That being said and just in case I'm wrong, I would think once Muslims in the Middle East learn that Sen. Obama is not and has never been a Muslim, then his name will do him little good. But being someone who has traveled and lived overseas, it might help our foreign policy in general to have a Pres. Obama.

His father wasn't around too long -- just about sired the boy and was long-gone, well-before he was a toddler (if you know the history). Obama was raised at first, by his mother's SECOND Husband -- the never-mentioned Jakarta/asian fellow. And THEN raised by his mother's parents in suburban Hawaii. Any connection to Muslims or anything ethnic is a modern concoction. Well? what's in a name? Barrack Obama was calling himself "Barry" before he realized he might get a niche of votes with the Obama (de-emphasing the Hussein).

Obama's father was a Muslim who became an athiest later in his life, his mother was a non practicing Baptist. Thus, he was not really raised with organised religion.
During his college days, he became enlightened and professed his Christian faith in the Trinity United Church of Christ.
The middle east is mostly Muslim. I spent 2003-2005 in Iraq working with various officials on the country's infrastructure. During that time I met hundreds of Muslims, and in fact, lived in a compound where I was the only American.
I do not believe that Obama will make much of a difference. He does not know the intricacies of the Muslim faith any better than our current president. He may be taken more seriously if he had been Muslim, but then he would probably not be considered presidential material.

He certainly could do no worse than Bush. When Bush hears the words Foreign Policy, he breaks out in hives.
