This is a question I have spent a lot of time pondering also. I am originally from Louisiana and we say y'all but I have moved to North Carolina and they say youenses. Also other strange vocabulary words are pocket book rather than purse, or here they seem to never pluralize anything, for instance "two dollar and fifty-three cent" or " I am fifty-two year old". There are too many to mention.

I used to live in the south, where you plural doesn't exist in their vocab, so I started using y'all. now that I live in the north I still use it or sometimes I say you all.
