okay upon startup of my PC I get a total blue screen after, here is what it says;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
Technical Information:
STOP: 0X0000008 (0XC0000005, 0XF38880E, 0XB875CA20, 0X00000000)
SVRT.SYS- Address B875CA20 base B875CA20, DateStamp 00000000
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

then it says something like physical memory dump. I have more than 1,000RAM, so I do not belive its a memory issue. More than a month ago I installed a new video card, NVIDA GeForce 5200.....and just two days ago I had added an extra 512mb RAM, putting me over 1,000. How do you check to see if drivers are up to date? I did check to see if they are all working and it says no issues.........can anyone help?

I have a Compaq Presario and am accessing the internet through safe mode with networking.

If you have windows installation disk then boot the computer from the disk. After that you can try to do a repair installation which will leave all the files and programs on the computer intact and will only replace windows system files. See if it helps

First thing to do is take the new RAM out, it very much sounds like a memory problem. If it still wont start normally start in safe mode and see how you go.

If you had a 1gb memory stick in your system, and put a 512 stick in with it, that could be your issue.
Some systems (not sure about yours) need the memory to be what's referred to as paired, so if you want 1gb, you'd put in 2 512mb sticks, and if you wanted 2gb, you'd put in 2 1gb sticks.

Either that or just use one stick.
Putting two different-sized sticks in your machine may cause memory faults like the one you're witnessing.

Try taking the 512 stick out and see if the problem goes away.
If it does, you may want to look into getting another 1gb stick to pair with your current one.

I would start by removing your new RAM. If that does not work then check your device manager for any conflicts.
