Not knocking Mustangs (they're great cars, and I used to have an LX 5.0 convertible when I was stationed in California), but they're not good for teenage girls for two reasons: (1) Insurance on a sports car always costs more, and (2) Insurance for a teenage girl on any car is the most expensive insurance on the planet because teenage girls are now the highest-risk group of drivers. That means you'll get a double-whammy when you try to insure a Mustang at your age, IF you can even afford the insurance. Also, if you're an agressive driver, the Mustang is one of the worst cars you can get because the chances of you getting multiple tickets or in a fatal car crash go WAY up with that much muscle under the hood. If you really want a Mustang and you can afford to buy and insure one you'll have to be VERY CAREFUL because the cops will see you coming a mile away...

Maybe the 4 cylinder or maybe even the 6 cylinder models, but the v-8 is too much car for a teen. You need to get some driving time under your belt before you are turned loose with a powerhouse like a v-8 Mustang.

Yeah - just not the GT or the Cobra.
They are hot cars and they are small enough that you won't be the one driving a bunch of kids around.
But with the bigger engine, the insurance will be crazy high.
Also, things happen fast in a car. As a 17yo, you have no idea how fast "fun" can turn to "bad". After a few years of driving, you'll learn. But for now, I recommend being a bit careful.

Not for a first car. You can't pick a car, because you think it rocks, or it looks cute or anything. Pick something reliabe, and don't forget about insurance. That alone could cost more than a car, especially since it's your first one. If your parents have to pay insurance, I highly doubt that they would get a sports car for you.

thye are nice cars indeed... as a first car i am not sure though.. the raised rear deck can make it hard to judge distances when backing up for one thing
also usually ones first car, will take more damage then later cars due to drivers skilland confidence improving, myself i would reccomend an econobox for a first car, much like trainning wheels for a bicycle, if its not the prettiest ride then less tears shed when an inevitavble accident or bad judgement occurs

I had one when I was 16.
I almost lost my license from getting speeding tickets. I drove fast, but cops loved to pull over a KID in a fast car. You'll get pulled over a lot, and it isn't worth it. The gas mileage stinks as well. Granted, I loved my car, but they are EXPENSIVE to own. High insurance rates, especially at your age, and expensive to fill the gas tank.

Noooooooo! Teenagers lack the skill to handle such a powerful car. Until you've driven for a couple more years, I would feel safer on the streets.

i have always driven hondas, and they are 100% reliable. i had a 94 civic when i started driving and it was small, so it was an easy learner, but not too small. i would reccoment a honda. even if you go to websites, they will say they are one of the best cars. they are very good cars plus they are inexpensive. hope this helps =)
