should I do? I followed the instructions about how to heat it up in the microwave ... I can't afford to go to ER to have this taken care of.

I am in pain... who is to blame? Who will pay for this?

When you heat anything up using ANY method - it is usually helpful to check the temperature before inserting it somewhere sensitive.

Who is to blame? I'm afraid that would be you for not taking reasonable precautions (see how hot it is) before pouring into your ear. Who will pay for it? I'm guessing that will be you again.

By all means give me a thumbs down for telling you something you don't want to hear - but from a legal point of view, I suspect you are the only one involved in burning your ear.

If it is an INFECTION, then I would have thought some antibiotics might be an option, the hot stuff (oil?) is usually more to dislodge wax.

Hydrogen peroxide (hair bleach) diluted with water can be used but unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing and what ratio to mix it, then I would just be inclined to try the heated drops again once you ear has stopped hurting from the burn.

This time WARM the liquid rather than "boil" it - and TEST the temp on the back of your hand - if it hurts your hand, it will burn your ear.

Some microwaves heat better than others. A good way to heat things like that up is to place in a hot cup of water and test before you use. I'm unsure what you can do about the scalding other than revisit your Doctor and have him have a look in your ear. Sorry your in pain , I wish I had a better idea for you. Get well soon.

Why would anyone put something heated to the point of scalding into their ear?
Who will pay? The person who heated up the ear drops and placed them in your ear - oh wait, that was you.

The directions said "heat to a scalding temp"? Wow, I'd sue George Bush.

You put the hot drops in your ear?..When heating ear drops you heat a cup of water and when the water is warm put the bottle of drops in the water, until the drops in the bottle heat- and then you check the temp of the drops, just like a baby bottle before you put hot drops in your ear..

What the heck? I have never heard of these drops. I would call your doctor and tell him what happened. For now I would try some ibuprofen to dull the pain while you wait for an answer.
