Each pregnancy is different. Also if you are breastfeeding things will be different. Some people notice that weight falls off if you are nursing. . . for me, my body held on to 20lbs until I was done nursing. It was as if my body was keeping it as a reservoir.
A couple of things that will help you on your way
Eat within an hour of waking up in the morning.
*Try to eat 5-6 times a day
*Make your new " meals" small portion size and healthy. In stead of having a sandwich, chips and a soda for lunch, have an apple as a snack, a couple hours later for lunch have the sandwich, and if at all possible, switch to water.
*Make water your beverage. . . You would be surprised to see how many calories you can cut out of your diet by cutting down on the drinks.
*Do not eat within 2 hours of going to sleep.
*Add a daily walk to your routine. Babies love to be outside. The fresh air is great for the both of you.
*Do some floor exercises with your little one. This will do great for the both of you, , , you will get some weight training, and your baby will get to play with you,
The most important thing is not to think of the positive changes as a "diet" think of them as being Positive changes that will make you and your little one happier and healthier. Remember, the best way to teach you child to be healthy and eat right is to lead by example.
Best of luck on becoming a healthier, thinner new you ! ! !

It took me about 3 weeks to lose what I put on. I attribute the speed to minimum weight gain, exercising regularly until the doctor ordered partial bedrest at 6 months, a good diet, and plenty of breastfeeding.
I gained about 22 pounds during my pregnancy, but actually saw a reduction in my face while pregnant (smaller cheeks and less double chin). I was already overweight when I got pregnant, so I still have some poundage to lose.
The biggest change has been that my boobs are bigger (like I needed THAT). I also had cankles the entire time, thanks to water retention and high blood pressure.

With my first baby about 3-4 months, I think it was because I had to have steroid injections on a regular basis. My second baby 3 years later I lost the weight fairly quickly. I think what changed the most was the stretch marks, I have them on my butt and inner thighs. They were worth it though.

I gained 40 lbs with my pregnancy, and I lost 30 by six weeks. Those last ten pounds took me almost six months to lose though. :(
My hips are still wider and my butt's a little rounder. On the plus side though, my boobs are a full size bigger.
It's weird, even when you get back to pre-pregnancy weight, your body is very different. I actually weigh a few lbs less than i did pre-pregnancy now, but I feel fatter.

6 weeks.
I had gained water weight during the last month of pregnancy....50 pounds....due to pre-eclampsia.
My legs and feet lost first, because they were FULL of water. I have stretch marks on my FEET from the bad water retention. My feet went from size 6 to a size 10 (tight).
My upper abdomen shrank back a little. My lower abdomen is still pretty bad though.

I gained 8 1/2 pounds and lost 24 in the hospital after delivery. So...I would have to say 2 days. My boobs were affected the most...in fact, I think they gained at least 7 of the 8 1/2 pounds I gained!

I lost my baby weight as soon as my daughter was born. But it helps to go for long walks and excercise while you're still pregnant, to prevent any extra weight gain.

Almost 7 months and still working on it, gained 48 lbs while prego, still got about 18 left. The main thing that changed on me is my hips and boobs, both are definetly bigger (probably still product of extra weight.)
