How do you plan to celebrate?

Street parties and celebrations throughout the country. Ghanaians are very sociable and love to celebrate. The main event is in Independence Square, a large open space on the Accra coastline, not dis-simuilar to Red Square or Tienaman Square. There will be lots of singing, dancing and fireworks.

I had hoped to be there but work commitments determined otherwise. I was last there for the world cup in June / July last year and everyone celebrated that in a big way.

A bunch of Ghanaian friends had invited me to a party in Leeds but I wasn't able to make it so no celebrations for me.

Obviously a limited Ghanaian community on Yahoo Answers....

Listen, I'll organise the celebrating instead. I'm not up to much this evening.

OK guys, all round my local for a 7.45 Kick-Off. Tony from the Darts team will be distributing traditional Ghanaian snacks of Salt & Vinegar Crisps, Cheese Sarnies, and Pickled Onions.

We will wash this down with celebratory lager-like drinks served in glass vessels.

Last one there gets the half time round in.

To Ghana!
To Independence!
To Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure all the Ghanaians will be celebrating it.
Britain's empire died big time after WW2 and with the rise of the USA so can't see the old colonialists celebrating it.

I must say that the independence and celebrations are given quite a mention here, especially on the BBC.

Your statement sounds so offensive: "50 years since we handed Ghana back over to them." Anyway it is 15 million of "them."
