okay upon startup of my PC I get a total blue screen after, here is what it says;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Technical Information:
STOP: 0X0000008 (0XC0000005, 0XF38880E, 0XB875CA20, 0X00000000)
SVRT.SYS- Address B875CA20 base B875CA20, DateStamp 00000000
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

then it says something like physical memory dump. I have more than 1,000RAM, so I do not belive its a memory issue. More than a month ago I installed a new video card, NVIDA GeForce 5200.....and just two days ago I had added an extra 512mb RAM, putting me over 1,000. How do you check to see if drivers are up to date? I did check to see if they are all working and it says no issues.........can anyone help?

I have a Compaq Presario

searching the knowledge base for the error codes you provided above turned up nothing. As such, well have to follow basic troubleshooting procedure.

First thing I would suggest is to remove the new RAM chip. While you may have enough RAM, its possible this chip is faulty. Also, while the chip is out be sure to check it to make sure its the same type of RAM (speed and size) as the chip you already have. While DDR memory is supposed to clock down to slower speeds, stability is not garaunteed while doing so. Usually a RAM issue would be reported by POST before windows even boots so Im skeptical of this being the source. From the information provided this does seem to be the next thing to look at though.

This problem is NOT your video card. Video cards are designed to operate with a bare bones backup driver which is pre-installed on every copy of windows. If this is a driver issue windows would revert to 640X480 resolution and 16 color mode. It would be overtly plain and noticeable.

Those memory locations are most likely driver related. Work backwards. Start the comp in safe mode and undo what you you did chronologicaly one at a time. When the PC boots normaly again you will have found the naughty one. Good luck

Try to remove the 512mb ram and see if the problem still there, if yes put it back and start computer then press F8 and move the indicator to start the last good start.

Take out the memory and trial it. If it still hapens, replace it and do the same with your graphics card.

This screen is a safety cut out for your hardware if its conflicting or defective.

i'm gonna guess it's that new memory, does it match your system?

but SVRT.SYS could be a video driver, so maybe it's that...

you've just got to use the process of elimination, but remember not to change more than one thing at once.
