HOW can something like this happen? I would "think" there would be at least scheduled annual inspections of ALL VA facilities.

HOW does that make you feel about our wonderful government?
BUSH is on T.V. saying he "won't tolerate it". WHY did this happen? This did not happen over night. It is a disgrace to America and the president. WHO is in charge of this mess????

What got me was watching the general in charge of the VA tell the government panel that they never inspected Building 18, so then, what were they doing? Putting ribbon decals saying "Support our troops and the President" on their bumpers? Anyone could see they were pulling money out of the hospitals even as the need for them was rising, and Walter Reed, the flagship, where members of Congress go is in great shape, but where the vets go, that's got rats and mold. And they want me to believe what...that that's just an accident?

This is nothing new, the VA hospitals have been a mess for many many years. I had relatives and friends that told us that they would never go to a VA hospital because of the conditions and poor treatment that they got there. This is nothing new.

The inspectors do exist, but most of them are buddy-buddy with hospital administrators and pencil-whip "satisfactory" ratings for them. Some workers at VA Hospitals are very apathetic about their jobs; they know it is almost impossible to fire them the way the system is. So they don't care.

First things first. Walter Reed is not a VA hospital.

Second the entire 'scandal' is over one area of a building that is scheduled for demolition.

Third: notice that the Democrats are too busy holding 'hearings' to simply allocate some money so the problems can be fixed.

Fourth: If the military had renovated the building you would be here complaining about them wasting money on a building that is going to be torn down.
