yes. he was waiting for the one who sold his sole to the devil for the right reasons. he wasnt greedy. he sold his sole for his fathers health. the others sold theirs so they could have something in return only for themselves. thats why they were evil.

Caretaker was a ghost rider. I think he waited all this time because at some point in the movie, it says that there was only one ghost rider in every generation.
