hopefully this is not for your ADMINISTRATOR account or you will be in a hissy... If it's for a regular account, reboot, hold down F8 after POST check to bring up your Safe Mode menu... boot in to Safe Mode, then go into Control Panel / User Accounts and reset your password from there.

If this is for your admin account, I would look for ERD Commander, you can find it on a lot of torrent sites.

Is it asking for the Windows logon password or the BIOS password? They are different. If it's the Windows password try F8 while it's booting and enter Safe Mode from the advanced boot menu. Try looing in as admin with no password. You can edit user accounts that way. If it's the BIOS just take the case apart, look for a nickle sized watch-type battery on the motherboard. Take the battery out for a couple of minutes, put it back it(the right way) and that will reset the BIOS to original state. No password!

why would 'someone' sell you a pc without removing or telling you the password?
if it has a password then this usually means there is stuff the owner does not want others to see, in which case they would remove everything before they sold it.
you do not want to go to a pc shop to ask.
i will wait until you are online and ping that pc, using my software i will be able to tell almost exactly where that pc is, and where it SHOULD be.
if there is a difference then i will inform the local police.

well, boot with F8 in safe mode. there will be an administrator account that is at the welcome screen. there should be no password for that account. log into it and try to change the password or create another one, and just transfer the files you need to the new account, then delete the old one.

Why would "someone" put a password on your PC?

I should ask the owner, if I were you!

Quite easy. Download this CD image: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/cd060213.zip

I use it quite frequently at work when we purchase assets from other companies. Check the sources for more information on the topic.
