When it is all said and done you need to always keep your self respect. In order to do that you will have done most things in your personal life and business life in an honorable way.

I think the absence of certain characteristics would be more relevant to making the best character. Ex: holier-than-thou attitude, condescending, judgmental, narrow-minded (which would be the opposite of open-minded).

There is no best. Is a successful businessman "better" than a scientist? Different personality aspects are useful in different areas.
A world-class artist would likely make a horrible president.
