You can get an economy car or for the same price an older luxury car like a Lincoln town car or a Cadillac. Some people prefer the luxury cars with all the options. Older status cars lose their status when they are old. That way you can pick one up fairly cheap and enjoy the luxuries of a expensive car.
If it's style you want, maybe a used Mustang GT. They are always popular.

Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla. If you need something full size, a Ford Taurus or a Mercury Sable would do the job.

Agree... Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic is the way to go... for fuel efficiency and reliability.
Accord and Camry is kinda too expensive, for $6000, it would be too old...
